Music is a vital part of life, including life at school.  Given the right opportunities, children’s early fascination with music can develop into a life long enthusiastic involvement in musical activities.

It is generally accepted that all children have the right to music education.  All have their own unique instrument – the voice!  Whilst music has intrinsic value, it also contributes to children’s development in many areas.  Skills include aural, oral, communication, memory and performance.  Social skills, such as self-confidence and self-esteem are encouraged through group activities.

Regular performance opportunities are an important part of music programs

All classes K-6 enjoy a weekly lesson with a specialist music teacher.

Every week, each class has a lesson with a Music Specialist.  The program is developmental based on the work of Kodaly and Orff.  The music classroom is well equipped with a wide variety of instruments.  Children begin to play the recorder in Year 2 and all are encouraged to have a recorder at school for use in music classes.

The school has a Junior and a Senior   Choir which rehearse weekly and perform regularly at school concerts throughout the year.  It includes children from K-2 (Junior Choir) and Years 1 to 6 (Senior Choir).    We sing as a school community at assemblies.

Their instrumental program consists of a Training Band, Performing Band and    Rock Band.  Each of these is directed       by a specialist in that area.
