Welcome to 2B.
There are 23 students in 2B and they have all been extremely busy workers this term. We hope you enjoy visiting our webpage highlighting some of the work covered this term.

Our Topic this term has been "Celebrations" and this has linked to our English and H.S.I.E key learning areas. We have learnt about different cultures and celebrations around the world.

Holi is a Hindu festival celebrated in India. The festival lasts three days. On the third day people throw coloured powder and squirt water at each other. This is the festival of colour! Everyone ends up looking as if a rainbow has fallen from the sky. Our art work shows how much fun it would be to join in this celebration.

This term 2B have been enjoying poetry. We have been reading, reciting and writing poems. We have written some creative poems in groups and have shared these with the rest of the class. We have also had fun writing different types of poems. We would like to share a Rhyming couplet written by a year two student. We wrote these after seeing an opera performance of Cinderella at school and after talking about Weddings.

The Bride kissed the groom on the beach

She didn't even eat a peach

The bride and groom are hand in hand

While their friends stand on the sand.

As a response to the devastating Victorian Bushfires our class wrote poems and created artwork depicting the burnt landscape. We read a poem that was published in the Sun Herald written by Graeme Base and it inspired our writing. Our school donated money to the Bushfire appeal and we thought about the children that no longer had homes and schools.

Physical Education has been an active session for all! The students are developing locomotive skills of hopping, running, galloping, sliding, skipping and leaping. Children are also developing manipulative skills in throwing - underarm, overarm, catching- different balls at various heights, kicking - inside the foot, trapping with foot and dribbling and controlling the ball.

Thank you for visiting our classroom!
